Show Low, Az. Broken down rear-end. We left Eagar on a cold January 6th 2009 and made it all of 40 miles to Show Low, Az. Just as we got on the outskirts of town, I down-shifted to slow and the rear-end let loose. I coasted to a stop on the right turn lane and was out of traffic. It took awhile to figure out that it was something between the transmission and the rear wheels, so by day's end I got towed to Empire Caterpiller about a mile away. This was Tuesday and it was the following Monday before they had what they thought was the right equipment to lift the rear wheels. In the end, they just had to jack the rear wheels about 14 inches and rest the wheels on blocks. They had a booger of a time pulling the axles and got the drop box off. It turned out that the ring gear had sheared all the bolts holding it to the carrier. I was lucky to get help from all guys on the BNO BBS web site. Gary Bennett at B&B Coach in Las Vegas had a 3rd member take out so Coffee and I made the 880 mile round trip in 16 hours on Wed. Jan14th.
