We decided to leave the bus in Wade, N.C. at the K.O.A. We'd been there 2 weeks for the Non-Bus Bus Rally. First stop was at R.E.I. in Durham for a tent, bed roll and camping gear. Turned out that one man cannot erect a 4 man tent by himself. (At least the first time!) I was fortunate that although the campground was empty, someone came by to pickup some bar-b-que equipment from the weekend's Bluegrass Festival. You've got to stake the bottom, then it's a breeze! We had the whole campground to ourselves... just the night before there were several thousand fans for the Jomeokee Bluegrass Festival. It was Coffee's first night camping out and I made the mistake of letting her go out alone (off leash) to pee. She was gone 'til sun up, but she stayed close. Lots of scarry noises out there.
